Pre-Season Meets
Pre-season meets are those that occur early in the season. For Levels 3-5 and Xcel Bronze, this would be Judges Cup. For all other levels, this is Crown of the Carolinas. Most of the gymnasts who participate in pre-season meets are returning gymnasts or have trained that level for more than a summer. We, as coaches, and you, as parents, should not "expect" that first year competitive gymnasts compete in pre-season meets. Remember the goal is for our girls to have a fun and positive experience. The coaches will determine who is ready for these meets and communicate that to both the gymnast and the parents.
All Meets Are Mandatory
During competition season the expectation is that ALL gymnasts compete in ALL meets designated for their level. This being said - every gymnast will be entered into all of their level designated meets and your Booster Club Account will be charged accordingly. If there is a meet that they will not be able to attend due to a school function or other extenuating circumstances, you must provide this information in writing to the coaches, including the reason why they will not be attending at least 2 weeks PRIOR TO THE PAYMENT DEADLINE. Once meet entries have been completed (which is usually two to three months prior to the event or even earlier - if it is a larger meet) you will be responsible for your meet fees regardless of whether or not your child attends/competes.
The fees for each meet include the coaches fees for that trip and the registration for the meet. Coaches’ expenses are assessed to cover the travel expenses, meals and accommodations of the GGTC coaching staff. These expenses are divided equally among ALL members of the competition team. GGTC does not require the attending athletes to be solely responsible for the coaches’ expenses. Therefore, if you are unable to attend a meet you will still be billed for your athlete's portion of these fees. Registration is what the host gym charges per athlete.
Please keep in mind, if at any time the coaches feel that your child is unable to compete in a meet (ex. not performing skills consistently, mentally unprepared, etc) they may pull them from the competition. These decisions are not taken lightly but the safety and emotional well-being of our athletes is of the utmost importance. If this were to happen, and the meet entry fee has been sent to the host gym, you will still be responsible for those entry fees.
Every host gym understand that injuries and illness occur. If either of these circumstances happen, the team coaches will contact the host gym to see if you may be able to receive a refund; however, in most cases the response is NO. Not because they don't want to, but because they have already paid for the venue, judges, etc - based on a certain number of competitors. IF a refund is granted from the host gym, the refund will NOT include the coaches expenses. Refunds will only be the registration fee.
Under no circumstances is a parent permitted to contact a host gym regarding a refund, meet schedule, etc. You should contact either the GGTC Team Coaches or Lexa with any questions.
Please keep in mind any gymnast with an outstanding GGTC balance (tuition) may not be entered, or may be removed from /or not permitted to attend a meet. They may also be asked to not attend practice until their balance is brought current.
